A SURVEY OF STUDENT ACCOMMODATION
On 22th July 2009 an instant survey was carried out among 24 overseas collage students at University of Arts of London. The purpose of the survey was to know about the student accommodation available and any problems arising.
The survey was conducted by mean of questionnaire given to the students to complete. There were six questions (with one yes/no question and five ticking items on list). The questions include types, area, price, distance and the extent of satisfactory as well.
The main findings were as follows. The most students live in standard, chosen by 71%; the others chosen studio with 29%. Half of students live in 10-15 centiares, followed by 29% of students live in the room which large than 15 centiares. 42% of the students spent the accommodation fees between 100 to 125 pounds per week, followed by 125-150 pounds, chosen by 30%, only 4% of the students spent more than 150 pounds. In looking at the time they spend on their way to school, 42% of the students spend 15-30 minutes, followed by 30-60 mintues, chosen by 25%. More than half of students felt common or unsatisfied with their accommodation and 75% will not be willing to live in school accommodation for the whole semester.
It is not easy to reach any definite conclusions based upon such a small sample of students from such widely differing backgrounds. However, some general comment can be made. The majority of students live in standand with 10-15 centiares, it cost 100-125 pounds per week. Most students are not satisfied with accommodation and will move out of their accommodations.
